Roles, Responsibilities & Compensation During COVID-19

MMSD understands that during times of school closure, conditions for employees may need to be altered to meet the needs of staff members and families. Visit our responsibilities and compensation web page for details on how each employee group is working and being paid during this time.

Direct Deposit Stubs

All direct deposit stubs are being emailed to employees. Paperless printable direct deposit stubs are identical to mailed stubs and can be viewed/printed at your convenience. Paperless pay stubs are securely sent to your district e-mail address 48 hours before pay day and are accessible with a password.

Unemployment Insurance Benefits

Human Resources is responding quickly all to Unemployment Insurance (UI) information requests sent to us by the Department of Workforce Development. We understand a timely response is vital to you.

When an employee files for UI benefits, the Department of Workforce Development sends MMSD a Separation Notice response form. MMSD is required to provide information back to UI within 7 calendar days. We have provided our employer response to all initial claims with a deadline of 5/29/2020.

If you have started receiving weekly unemployment benefits, MMSD is sent a Wage Verification/Eligibility form each week that we must respond to. We have verified weekly employee wages for all claims with a deadline of 5/29/2020.

If you have questions about the status of your UI benefits, please contact the Department of Workforce Development. The Department is experiencing an unprecedented call volume and encourages people to first search for their answer at or before calling. This frees up phone lines for people who have to call in. Unemployment Insurance is also asking employees to file online whenever possible at

Benefits Updates

On March 23, 2020, The Board of Education voted to stay with GHC and Dean Health Plan for the next fiscal year (7/1/20 - 6/30/21). To balance the budget, the Board implemented changes in three areas:

1)  Add a deductible to the in-network HMO and POS plans: $100 per individual with a $200 family maximum
2)  Update Prescription Drug Copay (GHC plans only)
3)  Adjust Employee Premium Contributions

Teacher Contracts

Teacher contracts will be mailed to home addresses prior to May 15. The deadline to submit your signed contract to Human Resources is June 15. Teachers should sign their contract, scan or take a picture of it, and email it to Retain your signed original for your records. Please do not mail your contract or attempt to drop off in Human Resources, as the Doyle Administration Building is closed.  If you do not email your signed contract by June 15, we will process your voluntary resignation. Human Resources cannot grant exceptions to this deadline.

Teacher 12-Pay Sign-Up

Each year teachers have the option to have their salary paid in 12 installments for the next school year (the default is 10 paychecks). The deadline to elect 12 paychecks is Friday, July 31. Please visit to sign up.

Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) Statements

WRS has delayed the delivery of yearly pension statements that normally arrive around mid-April through inter-office mail. A new delivery date is not known at this time. To read their announcement, click here.
